The 1st edition was published at Glasgow, 1747.
Three of the poems contained in this volume (I. The harvest, or Bashful shepherd; II. Haytime; III. St. Agnes' fast) were published also in "A choice collection of poems in Cumberland dialect. Sunderland, printed by R. Wetherald, n.d., where "The harvest" is ascribed to the Rev. Mr. Robert Nelson. Confer English Dialect Society [pub. number 2] series A1, page 32."
