"The document merits further research, which is made challenging by the fact it has been cut to produce a suitable "dust-wrapper." Whereas the top line has been cut off, able to discern that it is an unsigned copy of the will of John Wood (died 28 Feb. 1738/9), maltster of Waddon, Croydon, and that the executrix was his wife Arrabella (Arabella) Wood. John Wood's malt mill (now destroyed) was situated along the River Wandle, and to his wife and son Thomas he bequeathed his house and his mill (other properties and recipients are named in the will). Arabella died in 1757 at the age of 84.Thomas died before the execution of her will, and the administration was granted to Thomas's sister Elizabeth Moulton, wife of James Moulton, who thereby acquired the house and mill.
