Description
Summary:The dream represents an elementary body experience in which all of the human senses are stimulated. The aesthetic representation of bodily experiences and sensory perception has so far been largely ignored in studies of aesthetic dream representations. With 16 essays from literary, media, music and art studies, the present volume offers a trans-European as well as diachronic overview, ranging from Caravaggio to Shakespeare to Baudelaire. Less canonical authors and genres such as horror films, children's literature or the novels by Margaret Atwood are also examined with regard to the representation of synaesthetic dream experiences.
