Description
Summary:"Through an interdisciplinary approach (music, literature and visual arts), this book explores artistic migration in Paris under the Third Republic, thus allowing the comparison of case studies by researchers from different fields, and encouraging reflection that goes beyond disciplinary specializations in order to gain a more general understanding of the issues related to artistic migration in Paris. This project offers diachronic insight - given by the history of culture - into the intercultural formation of national imaginaries, the place occupied by foreigners in the artistic tradition of a territory, and the relationship between nationalism, internationalism, xenophobia and aesthetic judgment. Cultural historians, immigration historians, musicologists, as well as art and literature historians, constitute a large pool of targeted readers"--
