"The dedicatory poem to Alexander Pennecuik by John Forbes that appears in 'The Description of Tweeddale' published 1715."--From seller's description of Francis Quarles' Solomons recantation, with which this poem is bound. Alexander Pennecuik's work, "A geographical, historical description of the shire of Tweeddale : with a miscellany and curios collection of select Scottish poems," was published in Edinburgh by J. Moncur in 1715. John Forbes was a friend of Pennecuik's. The Cushing Library/Rare Books Collection copy is bound with: Solomons recantation, entitvled Ecclesiastes, paraphrased ... / by Francis Quarles. [London : Printed for Richard Royston, ... 1648] and Godly Sarah, or The sighing sister : a pastoral dialogue (manuscript).
