Description
Item Description:A translation, sometimes attributed to John Howell, of "Briève relation de la vie de Christine reyne de Suède, iusqu'à la demission de sa couronne & son arrivement à Bruxelles", and "Le génie de la reyne Christine de Suède".
"Briève relation de la vie de Christine" is apparently erroneously attributed to Urbain Chevreau, secretary to Kristina in the early 1650's, by Halkett & Laing and Wing; NUC attributes the work to Gregorio Leti on the grounds that "A version with title: L'adieu des franc̜ois à la Suède, is in his Le portrait et la vie secrette de la reine Christine de Suède.".
"Le génie de la reyne Christine de Suède" is wrongly attributed to Urbain Chevreau, and was apparently composed by a Mr. Saint-Maurice, as a vengeful satire against Kristina (compare Barbier).
Annotation on Thomason copy: "March 26".
