Item Description:Originally attributed to Charles I, but, according to Madan (pages 125-33), written by John Gauden, who probably included some authentic writings of the King.
The portrait is signed "Guil: Marshall delinea: et sculpsit" or "Guil: Marshall sculpsit".
First two words of title in Greek characters.
Printer's and publisher's names from Madan; the publication year is given according to Lady Day dating.
The last leaf is blank.
A variant state of the second edition, lacking the square blocks on the title page, with quire A identical to the second and third issues of the first edition; "repayed" on p. 169, l. 4 is so spelled, while in the first edition it is spelled "repaied". -- Madan.
