Item Description:First published in 1642 with title: The prince, or, maxims of state.
"The dutiful advice of a loving sonne, to his aged father" has been wrongly attributed to Raleigh, and is rather an excerpt from Robert Southwell's "An epistle of a religious priest unto his father", first printed in: A short rule of a good life.
"Instructions to his sonne" has a separate divisional title page; "The dutiful advice of a loving sonne, to his aged father", and "Observations concerning the causes of the magnificencie and opulencie of cities" have caption titles; pagination and register are continuous. "Observations touching trade & commerce" has a separate divisional title page, with separate pagination and register.
