Complaints are made of the illegal export of these commodities. Recites Ordinance 19 Jan. 1647-8 prohibiting export of woollen yarn, woollen flox, wool-fell, fuller's earth , clay, tobacco pipe clay, or any other clay used for fulling on pain of £500 fine for owner of land, £100 fine for Justice of Peace not reporting. Goods taken into Scotland must be certified to the port of origin. The law is strictly obeyed. Right of entry and search given.--Steele.
