| Item Description: | Translator's dedication signed: George Sandys. Mostly in verse. The "essay" is a translation of Book 1 of "Æneis". With an additional title page, engraved. This and some of the plates are signed by Franz Cleyn, artist, and Salomon Savery, engraver. At foot of letterpress title: Cum priuilegio ad imprimendum hanc Ouidij translationem. The preliminaries and one setting of quire 3V (with 3-line initials on the errata page) were printed in London by William Stansby. Variant: quire 3V printed at Oxford; errata page has 2-line intials.
