| Item Description: | In verse. The poem titles are arranged on the title page with a complex system of brackets. With an additional title page, engraved. "Englands heroicall epistles", "Idea", "Odes", "The legends of Robert, Duke of Normandie. [.."], "The owle", and "Pastorals" each have separate dated title page dated 1619; pagination and register are continuous. The engraved portrait is signed: Wil. Hole scul. Another state, with variant imprint and with title page reset and corrected, of the edition with "Swethvvicke [..] 1619" in imprint. Reproduction of the original in the British Library. |
