| Summary: | In the fall of 1849, the Sand Walking Company departed Salt Lake City for the gold fields of California intending to use a southern route. The company had dissensions and broke into many smaller parties. This book traced all the parties and especially those who crossed Death Valley. It includes an extensive bibliography.
