Description
Summary:In his conceptual sculptures, installations and videos, which are often summarily characterized as ?ecopolitical,? Austrian artist Markus Hiesleitner examines the political, social and economic mechanisms of present everyday reality. The publication is dedicated to his previous and current works and reveals their correlations of content and form. Here, the documentation of the works is supplemented by art-theoretical texts which analyze the specific aspects of Hiesleitner?s artistic production. The focus here is primarily on his living ?organic sculptures,? works that are critical of markets and consumption, on his examination of architecture and time (and thus decay and progress), and on the relationship between art and the public, which is at the center of his ongoing project entitled ?Kulturdrogerie? (meaning ?cultural drugstore?), an artspace in Vienna that Hiesleitner has been running with artist Franz Tisek for over ten years.
