It defines the rights and responsibilities of a person with a catastrophic illness in the workplace. The manual examines factors influencing the decision to work or not to work, such as city longterm disability insurance, Public Employee Retirement Systems (PERS), flexible work schedules, and inhouse counseling. Additional city support services available to employees with disabling illness include information and referral; systems and services advocacy; volunteer advocates; and a catastrophic illness fund. |
