Item Description:"These specimens are proofed from surviving wood and metal founts of the typeface that was designed by Edward Johnston for the London Underground. It was first used in 1916 and continued in use after the formation of London Transport in 1933. Fourteen sets of trial proofs have been printed by I.M. Imprimit, London. Sets 1 to 4 are on Zerkall mould-made paper; sets 5 to 14 are on machine-made cartridge."--Preliminary page.
