The four Kings representing the arms of England, Scotland, France, Ireland, the four Queens are the Duke of Yorke, Prince Rupert [who died 1682], Archbishops of Canturbury [and] Yorke, Dukes of 1. Norfolk, 2, Somerset, 3. Buckingham, followed by four "P" [Princes] named and numbered Dukes (and Duchesses), followed numerically 10 down to 1, by English Marquises, Earls, Viscounts, Bishops and Barons. Bound in contemporary red panel morocco binding and bearing the ownership inscription of Mary Herbert dated 1690 on front free end paper, and Katherin Herbert, 22 Noumber 1742 on rear end paper. The pastedowns are marbled paper. |
