Item Description:	Caption title. Title page and each page of text enclosed in decorative border. Woodcut of Our Lady of Guadalupe in center of title page, surrounded by six pairs of hands. A large tailpiece resembling a basket was superimposed on the colophon, thus obscuring the imprint. The word "Mexico" can be discerned upon close examination, as well as parts of letters that may spell "Empedradillo". This exemplar appears to be from the 18th century, judging from the typesetting (V for initial U, long S) and spelling (i.e., double s). However, it does not quite match the descriptions given in Medina or León (cited below). Medina gives the title as Metrica historia de la portentosa aparicion; Doña Maria de RIbera as the printer; and 1737 as the date. León gives Metrica historia de la milagrosa aparicion as the title, and Los Herederos de Da. Maria de RIbera as the printer, with no date. These editionas and later reprintings from Mexico CIty all have 4 unnumbered leaves or 8 pages; the present copy is the only one on 11 numbered pages or 6 leaves. It is definintely not the edition printed by Abadiano y Valdés in 1835. Text in two columns. The last page (unnumbered) is blank.
