| Item Description: | Frontispiece is a signed etching of Sir Thomas Browne. 1 portfolio is quarter-vellum. Contained in a vellum-backed, cloth-covered clamshell case. "Of unicornes hornes was first published as Chapter XXIII, of Pseudodoxia Epidemica or, Enquiries into very many received Tenents, and commonly presumed Truths, by Sir Thomas Browne in 1646; text for this edition is that issued in 1650, 'corrected and much enlarged by the author' ... illustrated with sixteen wood engravings by Alan James Robinson. Two hundred and twenty-five copies of this book were printed by Harold P. McGrath at Hampshire Typothetae. The Van Dijck Monotype was cast and set by Michael and WInifred Bixler. All the books were hand-bound at Gray Parrot's bindery'"--Prospectus. "State proofs: 15 copies, bound in full white vellum. State proofs of the etching, work proofs of the wood engravings, and a drawing are included with an additional suite of prints."--Prospectus.
