| Summary: | The winning competition entry to design and build the Teopanzolco Cultural Center was submitted by Issac Broid + PRODUCTORA, a team consisting of Carlos Bedoya, Abel Perles, Victor Jaime and Wonne Ickx. The project complies with the building codes established by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH). It was also awarded with the CICA Latin American Architecture Prize at the Buenos Aires Architecture Biennial as well as the 2017 American Architecture Prize. The Teopanzolco Cultural Center is part of a series of cultural facilities that are being developed in Cuernavaca, Morelos. Its greatest potential and challenge was to integrate the new auditorium with the Archaeological Zone of Teopanzolco, a fragment immersed in the city that preserves the vestiges of the pre-Hispanic cultures that inhabited the area. This book narrates the project, not only as a building, but as a process. It explains the intentions of the contest in which the proposal of the team of Isaac Broid and PRODUCTORA was selected. Illustrates the architectural project and the construction process through sketches, plans and photographs. Finally it shows the finished building, which today works through five forums of different uses and articulates the archaeological zone with the city through a large forum-public viewpoint. |
