Disturnell's map is a reprint of the 1828 map by White, Gallaher & White. The twelfth edition is considered to be one of the treaty maps and included with the written treaty itself as an official cartographic reference source used for negotiating the peace treaty in 1848 which ended the Mexican War.--(cf. paper written by Lawrence Martin, A la carte, page 204).
Engraved decorative title image of eagle biting snake perched atop a cactus with leaves representing the states of Mexico appears to the right of the title and was reproduced exactly by Disturnell from the earlier map by White, Gallaher & White.--(cf. A la carte, page 211).
