Email Record: King Charles the Second did, in the thirteenth year of his reign (Anno 1678) erect a corporation for the relief of poor widows and children of clergymen: which corporation hath from time to time been endowed by the charity of well disposed persons, (generally clergymen, or sons of the clergy) with a revenue now amounting to about three thousand pounds a year.
