Sir, as I find your name in the list of Assize made up for my trial, which is to commence on the 6th of January next, I beg leave to lay a copy of my indictment before you so early, because, passing over the gengtlemen in this county, to whom my character, from my youth up, is well known, thy have chosen to give you and the other gentlemen named in the list, the trouble of my trial.
