When U.S. soldiers crossed into Germany for the post-war occupation in December 1918, the Library War Service went too. Hoping to recreate their success with the American Library in Paris, the American Library Association set up a central distribution library in Koblenz, Germany. Although the American Library in Paris still exists today, as U.S. soldiers left Germany the library closed.
