Description
| Abstract: | The study gives a glimpse into the not-too-distant future by asking people about their reactions to the availability of self-driving vehicles, which could be found on Texas roads within a few years. Its objective was to gather empirical evidence on consumer acceptance and adoption: the factors associated with intention to use, how that intention might influence mode choice and vehicle ownership decisions, and what all of this could mean for travel demand and congestion in the Austin region. This study begins to build an evidence base for transportation policy making and decision making. Information has been derived from an online survey and qualitative interviews with Austin metropolitan area residents from May to June 2015. Findings represent only this sample. |
