Item Description:Probably an adaptation of Boileau's 'L'art poétique'; a re-issue of the revised Soames-Dryden translation, with additions by another hand (Foxon).
The words 'peri bathous' in the title are transliterated from the Greek, a satirical reference to the original "Peri bathous" attributed to Pope and published in Swift's 'Miscellanies' of 1727.
With one preliminary and two final advertisement leaves.
