Sir, I take the liberty of sending you the following resolution of the Lancashire magistrates, which it would give me pleasure to see adopted in every part of this diocese. If something was added to regulate alehouses on the Lord's day, so as at least to prevent drinking in them during the hours of divine service, it would render the resolution still more useful. The due observation of the Lord's day is so essential to the preservation of religion and morality amongst us, that I am persuaded you will exert your utmost endeavours to enforce it; and by so doing you will oblige.
