Item Description:	With program and performance notes. This arrangment was made by the composer for flute, clarinet in b-flat, trumpet in b-flat, violin, viola, cello, and optional double bass. This work was originally composed for string quartet, and commissioned by the Kronos Quartet. This mixed ensemble version was premiered by yMusic. "The performers wear stethoscopes positioned over their hearts so that each can follow his or her own heart rate...when one instrument is designated the leader, their breath will determine the starts of phrases and the procession from one bar to the next..."--Title page verso.
