Description
Summary:Inge Herold is a divorced, single mother in her mid-thirties and the lover of a married man. After a routine physical exam, she learns that she may have breast cancer, calling for an operation to be scheduled for the next day. In the time between her physical examination and receiving the results of her biopsy, she re-evaluates her entire life. This film carefully follows her heightened awareness of the nuances of the passing day, calling into question the importance and meaning she has placed on things in her everyday life. This introspective process allows Inge to find a strong will to live and seek the support she needs from the people who matter. Shot exclusively on location, mostly with lay-actors, critics considered this film to be DEFA's greatest women's film.
