Description
Summary:The analysis of Thucydides as a joint effort of both ancient historians and political scientists found a welcome audience in the context of Cold War scholars in the 1980s and 1990s. Since the close of the Cold War, however, there has been little in the way of a concentrated scholarship renewing this interdisciplinary dialogue. This book, the second of two monographs exploring Thucydides, consists of contributions by world-class scholars on Thucydides' legacy to the political process as understood by both ancient and modern historians and political scientists. It also includes a careful examination of the usefulness and efficacy of the interdisciplinary approach to political order in the ancient world and proposes new paths for the future of such study.
