Description
Summary:Dr Rod Parker describes focusing oriented psychotherapy, which understands the body as having a living, knowing interaction with the world. Attending to the felt sense of the bodily feel of our situations has been documented in psychology as far back as 1890, when William James described what we now call, the 'tip of the tongue' phenomenon. The concept of the felt sense was futher developed by Eugene Gendlin at the University of Chicago. Interaction with the felt sense is correlated with outcomes of psychotherapy; Parker mentions a few of the therapy modalities that appear to make use of the felt sense.
