Calendar in black and red, with two pages for each month listing phases of the moon, positions of the planets, saints' days, Dominical Letters, and weather predictions. Appendix has separate title page, imprint, and signatures: "Coelson 1678 : an appendix to the preceeding almanack for the year of our Lord God 1678 : being the second after bissextile or leap-year : wherein you have an account of such eclipses as will happen this year : with several necessary tables and other things worthy to be observed, useful for all sorts of people : likewise some brief predictions of the state of the year upon the sun's entrance into Aries : as also a chronography of the 4 quarters of the year / collected, composed, and published by Lancelot Coelson, Student in Astrology and Physick. Appendix includes notes on eclipses, the four seasons (with woodcut diagram), tables of weights and expenses, catalog of towns, cities, and bishoprics in England and Wales, and a short history of comets, including the one of 1677. Last [2] pages contain advertisements for books, and elixirs. The Cushing Library/Laughlin Collection copy is bound in gilt-paneled red morocco, with the crowned monogram of Charles II in each corner and horizontal vellum divider strips between each almanac.
