Description
Summary:This volume contains the papers presented by psychologists from the People's Republic of China and the US at a joint conference, "Issues in Cognition," held at Wingspread, Wisconsin, August 28-31, 1983. The conference was the first occasion at which psychologists from China met with American colleagues to discuss their current work on various aspects of cognitive psychology. The conference was organized around 5 themes. These were selected both because they are ones in which a rapid expansion of knowledge has taken place in recent yers and because they represent areas in which the possibilities for practical application are great. The themes were (1) cognitive development; (2) perceptual development; (3) cognitive aspects of reading, mathematics, and science; (4) relations between neurological and cognitive processes; and (5) applied cognition.
