Description
Summary:Ledger of accounts receivable and payable, attributed to the Marques de Rubí Cayetano Pignateli, Third Marques de Rubí, 9th Baron of Llinars (born around 1730- ?), a Mariscal de Campo (field marshal) in the Spanish army who was born in Barcelona. In 1764 he was sent to New Spain by King Charles II of Spain to organize regular army and colonial militia units, and to propose solutions for the natives' raid on the northern frontier of what is now Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. During his inspection of the northern frontier, he travelled an estimated 7,600 miles. The first entry in the ledger is dated 26 April 1764, and the last closing account was written by an official in January 1774. The accounts were kept by Pignateli's brother-in-law Francisco Sociats y Ferrer, and follow the Marques's time in New Spain.--Adapted from bookseller's description.
