| Summary: | An album of snapshots from an African-American family between 1930 and 1960, with photos inserted into a manual issued by Sherman, Clay & Co. (a retailer of musical instruments, mainly pianos, and a publisher and seller of sheet music, founded in San Francisco). The photos have been pasted over many of the printed pages of the manual with some of the original text showing. Throughout the album the family is seen in Texas, Louisiana, and California in photos that portray farm life in San Antonio, school dances, and vacations. Also includes a handwritten poem "My philosophy of life" and several pictorial postcards, as well as a bookseller's description.
