| Item Description: | "Copyright 1896 by Forbes Litho. Mfg." Every Sunday in 1896, the Boston Globe included a chromolithographed paper toy with the Sunday paper. Circus acts, storybook characters, and historical scenes all appeared as cut-out figures, to be clipped out and arranged by children. This example was a bit outside the norm - it allowed children to build a miniature of a contemporary press room, with the newspaper's recently-acquired perfecting press, manufactured by Robert Hoe. The original day of the month "23" is blacked out. Purchased for the Cushing Library/Laughlin Collection by The Cushing Library. |
