Description
Summary:3. The Missions and 7 Southern Tribes California's missions are a lasting reminder of the days when the first Europeans pioneered this great land; also, they can remind us of the native people who lived here and whose way of life changed forever. In this program, author/historian George Emanuels addresses various aspects of mission life involving the native people; then, drawing from a vast collection of historical photos and drawings, the author/historian completes his thematic approach in illustrating differences between the natives by introducing viewers to seven southern California tribes: the Costanoan, Yokuts, Gabrieleno, Chumash, Luiseno, Diegueno and Cahuilla. To conclude the program, Mr. Emanuels offers a personal perspective on why he wrote the book, "California Indians: An Illustrated Guide." 4. California Indians Glossary Game This program presents a multiple-choice game that offrs viewers a fun and challenging opportunity to review 23 important words and topics about California's Native Americans. Viewers are asked to do their best to correctly answer each question; then, after all the questions have been asked, they can see how well they have done as a review of all the correct answers appears on the screen. For each question three answers are given. For instructors, the questions and multiple-choice answers are offered on the reverse side of the program's study guide, which may be copied as needed for each viewer playing the game.
