Description
Summary:The workshop "Mechanisms in B-Cell Neoplasia" focused on c-myc. The deregulation of c-myc transcription by retroviral insertion, chromosome translocation or gene amplification is a consistent oncogenic "mutation" in many forms of B-cell neoplasia. C-myc, like several other genes involved in neoplasia (e.g. ras, p53), is implicated in multiple aspects of cellular life. No single defined action has yet been established for myc. Research is currently concentrated on defining the important functions, and assigning these to various differentiation lineages. This book presents some perspectives on this complex problem.
