| Summary: | The present book focuses on the immunotherapeutic modalities relevant for the induction of enhanced resistance against viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections. New ap- proaches to vaccination and application of cytokines in in- fectious diseases are succinctly described. Some novel immu- nomodulators and their biological properties as well as cli- nicalstudies are presented. Effective enhancement of host defence with a vast array of immunomodulatory agents and re- combinant cytokines, both in normaland in immunocompromised states, is shown to be an attractive approach. It can func- tion as an adjunct to present modalities for prevention and control of infectious diseases as well as tumors. |
