Description
Summary:This book provides an introduction to the most important optical techniques applied to engineering problems as well as a guideline to select and apply an appropriate technique for a particular problem. After a brief survey of the techniques presented in the book, including a discussion of their possibilities and limits and a classification with regard to the effort and cost, each technique is described in detail in a separate section. In addition, a general overview is given for each group of techniques. All chapters start with a discussion of the theoretical background followed by a detailed description of an experimental setup typical for a given technique and illustrated by some examples of application. A final chapter is devoted to tomography, a powerful evalution technique which can be applied to several of the previously discussed techniques.
