The French physician, François Du Port, was the actual author of the book "La Décade de Médecine ou Le Médecin des Riches et des Pauvres". Working for thirty years as a country doctor enabled him to report the symptoms and causes of different diseases, and during the reign of Louis XIII (1601 - 1643), he recorded his experiences in Latin verse. In 1691, the adviser and official physician to Louis XIV, Du Fort, acquired the rights to Du Port's book: he transcribed the doctor's experiences into French verse and in 1694, in Paris, the book was published in Latin and French verse. |
