Description
Summary:The volume presents an update on combined modality therapy in gastrointestinal tract cancer. Pre-, peri- and postoperative chemo- and radiotherapy, both as adjuvant means or as treatment in advanced stages of cancer, are described. The results obtained derive from EORTC-randomized trials and from state-of-the-art lectures by experts. Furthermore, new preclinical and experimental approaches for certain types of cancer (liver, gastric and carcinoid) are reported and adjunctive measures, such as hyperalimentation, hyperthermia and intraoperative radiotherapy, are discussed.
