Description
Summary:This book is dedicated to the surgery of the deep femoral artery in chronic ischaemia of the lower limb. When ischaemia is secondary to obstruction of the superficial femoral artery, it can be treated successfully by a femoropopliteal bypass. In certain cases, the situation is more complicated, however, and such a bypass is impossible; here, ischaemia is often severe and the viability of the leg endangered. By improving the flow in the deep femoral artery, it is possible under certain conditions to compensate for this insufficiency in the main vascular axis. The book first presents an anatomical description, followed by details of haemodynamic and radiological examination, indications for improving the deep flow, and finally surgical techniques and their results.
