Description
Summary:An information model for annotation graphs represented within technical drawings is described in this book. The main purpose of the CAD*I Drafting Model described is to support the development of a neutral file specification for the exchange of drawing information between differ- ent CAD systems. A new approach is used: starting with the formulation of statements that describe annotation graphs according to ISO drafting standards, the essence of the statements is transformed into the formal descriptions of the data structures. The data structures are designed with embedded rules, so that the graphs described by the structures must coincide with the ISO standards. The book is one of a series presenting the results of ESPRIT Project 322: CAD Interfaces (CAD*I). About 150 person-years of research have been spent on the project since it started in 1984. It has involved 12 partners in 6 countries of the European Community.
