Description
Summary:This festschrift volume pays tribute to Hidenori Kimura and his outstanding achievements in control theory, signal processing, and modeling. The 20 invited contributions presented here are an outgrowth of a symposium held in November 2001 in Tokyo, Japan, celebrating Kimura's 60th birthday. Reflecting his recent research interests, the symposium was entitled "Cybernetics in the 21st Century: Information and Complexity in Control Theory." The chapters are classified into five main areas related to Kimura's work: signal processing, identification, robust control, hybrid, chaotic and nonlinear systems, and control applications. Many of the contributions highlight real-world and industrial applications.
