Description
Summary:After the fall of the Alamo and before the Battle of San Jacinto, per Thomas M. Streeter, "this was one of the laws passed in the wave of enthusiasm resulting from the victory at the Alamo. The Interim President José Justo Corro approved this Decree by Congress on April 9, 1836; José Maria Tornel promulgated it the same day, and José Gomez de la Cortina communicated it on April 11. Corro held the office while Pres. Santa Anna was fighting in Texas the battles of the Alamo (Mar. 6, 1836), Goliad, Harrisburg, and San Jacinto (April 21, 1836), where Santa Anna was captured.
