| Summary: | "The parents of a community are the founders of the homes of the community--they are the home-builders of society. Parents are makers of families, and the family is the unit of society and the foundation of the state and the church. This is a brief handbook for parents as family-makers and home-builders. Home may, for our purposes, be defined as the place where a family resides, taken together with its complete equipment and management for securing and maintaining the physical, mental and moral well-being and welfare of the occupants. The family, which occupies the home, will, in the ideal case, consist of the parents and the children;--incidentally there may be grandparents, grandchildren, an aunt, an uncle, or other relatives, and servants;--all living within the home and making a part of a family; but the essential elements of the complete family are parents and children. In the following brief treatise the writer will attempt to sum up, for the benefit of home-builders, those principles and facts most important to know"--Preface.
