| Summary: | "The Magic Cloak is an outgrowth of a paper written in 1940 entitled "The Unconscious Influences in the Choice of an Occupation." This paper was read before the Central Neuropsychiatric Society meeting in Detroit in the early 1940s. It was reread later before the Illinois Psychiatric Society, at which time it was discussed by Dr. Leon J. Saul. In his discussion, Dr. Saul brought out the fact that he had reviewed the occupational selection of the patients that he was treating by psychoanalysis. He noted that there were unconscious influences responsible for the choice of occupation made by most of his patients. This book explores the unconscious influences in one's choice of occupation.
