The Cushing Library/Lit./Mitchell copy has taped in a letter from Joseph Conrad to David Garnett. The front flyleaf is inscribed "To David Garnett from Joseph Conrad Xmas 1902." It was acquired with the author's "The deerslayer" (London: Macmillan and Co., 1900) and "The last of the Mohicans" (London: Macmillan and Co., 1902).
The Cushing Library/Lit./Mitchell copy includes the bookplate of David Garnett (Hilton Hall Huntingdon).
