The narrative of King Claudius is one of these. The story begins as Claudius is making the first strategic moves in his attempt to steer a peaceful course through the consequences of his well concealed murder of old King Hamlet and usurpation of the crown, while his helpless nephew, Prince Hamlet, sulks over the hasty marriage of Claudius to the Queen, Hamlet's mother. The Brief Reign and Death of King Claudius is a Hamlet sub-text of approximately 1750 lines, about the same length as Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors. In the process of extracting the Claudius narrative from the full text of Hamlet the editors utilized the Hamlet Plot Element Grid.
