Description
Summary:In this fourth session with a young woman with compulsions, Keith S. Dobson focuses on the client's self talk and suggests that she try to turn her "can't," "must," and "no" phrases into choice phrases such as "What will happen if I don't do this?", "Do I really need to do this?" et cetera The client expresses concerns about becoming a selfish person if she starts trying not to please people so much. Dobson helps her see that just because she starts doing things for herself, she will not turn into a self-centered person. Another theme of the session is the client's desire to get off her medication because she doesn't feel that it is helping her and doesn't trust her psychiatrist. Dobson encourages her to see her family physician to develop a medication plan.
